Does Torchwood ever actually get good?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Does Torchwood ever actually get good?

Post by Gamerforlife »

I couldn't even make it through the first season. I wached the season 2 premiere, and honestly the only reason it was good was because of James Marsters. This video touches on some of the reasons I find Torchwood annoying:

I'll take Dr. Who over this any day. Granted, Dr. Who is pretty heavy on the cheese factor at times and nobody ever really gave a crap about the Doctor and Rose's romance, but the Doctor himself is very charismatic, the dialogue is witty, the support characters are cool(not counting Rose who is lame) and there's always a cool sci fi twist in most episodes.

A fellow I know enjoys Torchwood, but according to him it doesn't necessarily get better. So if what you don't like about it is what's central to the show so far, future episodes are unlikely to remedy that.

I happen to really like Torchwood and this new series looks to be carrying on the same trend of humour, action and sci-fi but I agree that if you didnt like the first few episodes then you probably shouldnt bother watching the rest. Any sub bracnd of Sci fi is always an aquired taste.

Its CSI Dr Who. Nothing will top the actual Doctor Who, but I find the spinoffs enjoyable enough - K-9 and Company man, K-9 and Company. To me they are just good enough to keep me happy until a new season.

Granted I have been working my way through all of the available old episodes and man is that a task.

Hmm, I don't know. The show just doesn't do it for me. It seems to me like a mix of Buffy and X-Files, yet I don't find it as interesting as either one of those great shows, and it certainly doesn't have Dr. Who's charm. Nothing really stands out to me with Torchwood. It feels very derivative. It seems like the only way they've found to make the show stand out is with CONSTANT references to sex, which gets tiresome.

To each his own I guess.
