Pilotwings for the SNES. I cannot begin to describe how much time I spent on that game as a kid.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The one series that's sucked me in for 10 minutes before work or kept me stay up too late more than any other is Animal Crossing! My GC village was a blast but I think the DS's Wild World is even better if only for how easy it is to play in bed! ... play in bed.

(PS, yeah, I'd say Wario Land counts :) )
