What is the community view on storing games in DVD Binders?

Post by Jerkface Killah »

Hello again gang. I'm seriously toying with the idea of buying a bunch of these classy looking DVD binders and putting all of my video games in them that use standard DVD boxes. So that would be PS2, XBOX, GameCube, 360, Wii. But what would I do with the discarded boxes? The hoarder in me wants to keep them. Maybe stack them in the closet. It seems like sacrilege to even be considering this. I love my games, but honestly I feel like I am surrounded by them. I just want a more elegant storage solution! Thoughts?

check out the DVD binders I'm talking about

Stay AWAY FROM THEM!

You will regret in the future, who the hell wants disc only games, no one! Keep them in there cases where they belong.

If you do decide to get rid of your cases, I am sure homes could be found all over the place from RB members who are missing game cases.

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, I would keep the inserts and booklets in the binder with the game discs. The only thing I would discard is the empty plastic case. I imagine PS2, xbox etc cases are pretty easy to replace in the future if I had to...

I would really just keep them in their cases and get a good bookshelf. A lot of these cases from my experience and with others, actually scratch up the disc. Coupled with the fact that you don't know what plastic they use, can be problematic. Certain plastics do degrade and will damage anything around them.

If space is an issue, I guess you have to consider options, but I have to vote AGAINST taking the discs out of the cases.

Agreed.

But seriously, I did the same thing with a lot of CD's and later regretted it, because in a way, it makes it harder to find certain CD's. You remember seeing all the rants about cartridge based games not having end labels? You'd be shooting yourself in the foot and doing that with disc based games too. Is it a space saver? Yes. It is practical? To me, no.

Just my input.

I do this. I have my DVD boxes in boxes in a closet, the DVD inserts in a shoebox, and the games in a binder stored near the TV.
