So I was going around thrift stores yesterday and I think I may have found the perfect retro gaming TV. Its a 32in Magnavox Widescreen SD CRT, and all for $15. I knew that Widescreen SD CRTs were made, but they seemed to be very rare. Unfortunately the store was closing in 10 min when I got in there (store closed at 7!) and isn't open today so I didn't have a chance to test it if it worked or see if the remote came with it, which are both deal breakers for me. Plus I didn't have a way to transport it that day because I have a two door Honda Civic. But on Monday I will definitely be following up on this.

I brought home a portable air conditioner in a Honda Civic coupe in the front seat - no way you couldn't have brought that TV home.
(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

idk, I had a bad experience last time I tried to bring a 32 in TV home. Given it was a fullscreen which I'm aware are bigger than Widescreens. It was in a similar Honda Accord two door, and it ended up cracking the windshield from the inside.

Interesting find. I've never seen a 16:9 SD set. What SD game consoles support 16:9? I'm pretty sure the PS2 does, depending on the game.
32 inch CRTs are BIG. My 4:3 32" Sony Trinitron BARELY fit in the back of my 4 door accord. I actually slightly damaged both the TV and the car in the process, but it was worth it. A 4:3 TV is bigger than the same diagonal 16:9 set, but you get the picture.D.D.D. wrote:I brought home a portable air conditioner in a Honda Civic coupe in the front seat - no way you couldn't have brought that TV home.

Nice find! Ghost in the Shell for PS1 has a widescreen option.

I drive a Buick. It probably couldn't fit a big CRT TV though eithereinzelherz wrote:So everyone on Racketboy drives a Honda except me
I know there's a few Sega Saturn games that output widescreen, I know this because I was reading some Saturn articles on this site looking for the one about 2D Fighters and whatnot. http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2007/02/ ... ights.html

I bought a 30 inch Sony Wega HD CRT 16:9 on Craigslist about three months ago and it is a awesome retro gaming TV. I may even say the picture on the Sony CRT is better than my LCD Sony Bravia.
