How to mount ISO+Audio Saturn Images?

Post by Integrator »

Hello, I am running windows 7 x64, using MagicISO + Magicdisc to mount my images.

I have several games that are an ISO file plus an audio file. Now I know what I'm supposed to do, convert the audio to wav and make sure the cue file is correct, failing that, run sega cue maker.

Now I have a perfect cue file, an ISO file, a TAO file and some waves. Here is the cue that came with the ISO:

Code: Select all

FILE Track01.iso BINARY
  TRACK 01 MODE1/2048
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track02.tao BINARY
  TRACK 02 MODE2/2352
    PREGAP 00:03:00
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track03.wav WAVE
  TRACK 03 AUDIO
    PREGAP 00:02:00
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track04.wav WAVE
  TRACK 04 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track05.wav WAVE
  TRACK 05 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track06.wav WAVE
  TRACK 06 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track07.wav WAVE
  TRACK 07 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track08.wav WAVE
  TRACK 08 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track09.wav WAVE
  TRACK 09 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track10.wav WAVE
  TRACK 10 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track11.wav WAVE
  TRACK 11 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track12.wav WAVE
  TRACK 12 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track13.wav WAVE
  TRACK 13 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track14.wav WAVE
  TRACK 14 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track15.wav WAVE
  TRACK 15 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track16.wav WAVE
  TRACK 16 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track17.wav WAVE
  TRACK 17 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track18.wav WAVE
  TRACK 18 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track19.wav WAVE
  TRACK 19 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track20.wav WAVE
  TRACK 20 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track21.wav WAVE
  TRACK 21 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE Track22.wav WAVE
  TRACK 22 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
And here is the cue generated by seagecuemaker:

Code: Select all

FILE "Track01.iso" BINARY
  TRACK 01 MODE1/2048
      INDEX 01 00:00:00
      POSTGAP 00:02:00
FILE "Track03.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 02 AUDIO
    PREGAP 00:02:00
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track04.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 03 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track05.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 04 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track06.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 05 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track07.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 06 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track08.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 07 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track09.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 08 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track10.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 09 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track11.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 10 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track12.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 11 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track13.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 12 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track14.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 13 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track15.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 14 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track16.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 15 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track17.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 16 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track18.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 17 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track19.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 18 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track20.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 19 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track21.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 20 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Track22.wav" WAVE
  TRACK 21 AUDIO
    INDEX 01 00:00:00
The postgap on line four is the only difference I see.

Mounting the cue fails, I have also tried this before on many games with Daemon Tools and the images simply don't mount. Magicdisc says "Mounting failed".

Does anyone have any ideas?

Any help apprecaited.

Check out this guide:

http://www.racketboy.com/retro/hacks/20 ... tware.html

What are you trying to accomplish? Do you just want to burn the image? If so, you don't have to convert into wav. Check out the guide linked above, it'll show you how to burn an ISO+mp3/CUE image. The burning software used in the guide, ImgBurn, will convert to wav for you. As long as the CUE is good, you don't have to do anything. The guide also covers creating a new CUE as well as mounting images.

Hi thanks for the link, I am doing what the guide you posted says, I just want to mount an "ISO+audios" in a virtual drive, that guide syas just mount the cue, it doesn't work.

Is there any way I can convert the whole thing back to one full ISO file? Or (as in the guide you posted) is it possible to get IMGburn to write to an ISO file instead of burning to a disc? IMGburn can apparently burn ISO, convert the auidos to wav, and burn those too, thats useful, I suppose I could do that then simply read the image back up as an ISO but I would have to waste a disc every time.

I just want to play some saturn games in an emulator :(

OK then, what emulator are you using? Most emulators for disc based consoles will allow you to load a game from an image (so you don't have to burn or mount it in a virtual drive). Check and make sure. But if the emulator you're using doesn't allow that, and you have to mount it in a virtual drive...

What virtual drive are you using? I recommend Daemon Tools Lite, as used in the guide. With out going into detail, I think Daemon Tools Lite is a lot easier to use than other virtual drives. If you're selecting the CUE and it's not mounting, then the CUE is bad. Use the guide I linked to make a new CUE for your image, then try and mount the CUE again. Also make sure that you're ISO+mp3/CUE image is isolated in a folder by itself. Have the ISO and audio files in a folder, delete the old CUE, and create a new one. If at this point you can't mount the CUE then the image is probably damaged.

You cannot convert it to an ISO. I'm not too knowledgeable about the technical details, but you can't have a simple ISO for CDs. You need the audio files separate from the ISO, and you need the CUE so the ISO knows what to do with audio files. ISO+mp3 sucks, it's the worst type of image possible for CD games (though ISO is perfectly fine for DVDs). If you want to convert it to something easier, you can convert it to BIN/CUE. The guide I linked will show you how to do this as well. Basically, you'll have to mount the ISO+mp3 in a virtual drive then use ImgBurn to rip it to BIN/CUE. There might be tools out there that will convert the image (without having to mount it and re-rip it) but I don't know of any.
