Re: Gaming Through the Ages - Czernobog's New Blog
I sense a lack of Ultima IV - Quest of the Avatar and Golden Axe Warrior
apart from that, nice start and congrats on your SMS
it may not necessarily be better than the NES, but there are plenty of nice little games out there for it
and I've already figured out what that accessory is; but I'll keep it a secret ^^

Nice overview of the SMS and some of its accessories.
I grew up with the NES as well, so my knowledge of the Master System was limited. In fact, i only knew one person in my neighborhood that actually owned one.

Thanks! Yeah, I couldn't believe I had never even heard mention of it from anyone until I was significantly older. Kudos on the Eraserhead avatar btw. David Lynch taught me that movies about perception without typical plot convention can be just as compelling and successful as more hollywood-esque films with that one.scott33 wrote:Nice overview of the SMS and some of its accessories.

Fantasy Zone FTW.
And I think it just might be my favorite accessory for any of our systems, ever.
I need to get my blog running already, this is some good incentive.

The box description for Fantasy Zone says it all:Tiamat wrote:Fantasy Zone FTW.

Thank you! Eraserhead has to be one of the creepiest movies ever put to film. David Lynch definitely creates a mood in his movies unlike any other.Czernobog wrote:Thanks! Re: Gaming Through the Ages - Czernobog's New Blog
it is very faithful to the PC version, albeit without the need to type your questions, etc.Czernobog wrote:Lord_Santa wrote:Didn't even know about Ultima IV though, I'm going to have to look into that.
I seem to recall a NES version of it, but I think that was made to feel more as a JRPG
the SMS version is truly a gem in the SMS collection, since it's such a deep experience
I had a copy (may still have) for my SMS, alas no longer do I own a SMS
I do know where I can find a EU version of the game for about 40 Euro though
not sure if it's worth it, but at least it's still available (to me at least)
damn, I'm starting to miss my old Master System
got that long before I got a NES
good times, good times...
as for Golden Axe Warrior... good luck
should you ever find it, please do post pictures =)
as a side-note it may be worth your while to point out the lack of start/select buttons on the controller itself on your blog
one of the distinct differences between the SMS controller and the NES one (IMO)

Re: Gaming Through the Ages - Czernobog's New Blog
Thanks for reminding me! I updated the post to include a paragraph about the controller. As for Ultima IV, it looks like it was most likely a EU/AU only release, but looks like a SMS game worth owning for sure. Not that uncommon an occurrence considering the SMS fared pretty poorly over here, so I might consider importing it sometime. I'll make damn sure to post pics in Finds of the Day if I get either game!Lord_Santa wrote:it is very faithful to the PC version, albeit without the need to type your questions, etc.
