That's odd. When I was in the US, internet was pretty cheap, and I got a much faster connection. I can't remember the exact values, though, since I didn't get the bill, and it was bundled with cable (maybe it was Comcast, everyone seems to hate it over there, but it was good while I used it).

To be honest, 10 Mbps is more than enough for me. I'm at a point that nothing I want to do on the internet takes much time to download. If I want to download a movie, it takes 10 minutes. That's pretty reasonable, and, outside P2P, there aren't many servers from where I can download stuff faster than my connection can take.

Just curious, why in the world is the internet so fast in Sweden?

I have no clue why it's so fast, actually; but Sweden has "prided" itself for years in being... "advanced" in PC-technology

almost everyone I know has at least 25Mbps, that is sort of a standard in this country

I actually pay more than my brother who has 100/100 (he pays 10€ less than me)

this thread really got me thinking, since I thought that Sweden was just bragging

it is rather strange that we have this fast connection-speeds compared to other countries...

then again, I'm not complaining; I just wanted to know if it was all talk, or not (from Sweden, that is)

Cheaper than in the US.

We pay $150 a month for basic analog cable, cable internet and telephone service. Telecoms and cable companies have complete control over the pricing schemes over here so prices have been left to skyrocket in recent years.

And how are the plans for telephone and TV?

I do think I could get a good cable and phone service plus connection for less than that. (I haven't had cable TV for years in my house, it was absurdly expensive, but it's getting better recently. I just don't have much interest or time to watch TV anymore.)

I'm really surprised at how expensive these things are over there, it wasn't my experience at all for the short time I lived in the US, but then again I didn't deal with that stuff directly (it was all included in rent).

Yeah, mine is crap too. I forget the new company with a green logo that's been popping up everywhere but it wasn't any better than my SBC DSL when I checked on their speeds and prices. I had slightly better speeds when I lived where I could get cable internet closer to downtown. Fucking pathetic considering I live in the 4th largest city in the US



Oh, and I pay about $78 a month for basic land line with no long distance and this internet too. So you're doing better than me Jfrost.

That mainly affects ping though. Once a download gets going it's still coming through the pipe at the same speed, just when it finishes sending on one end or the other it's still moving fast or slow from my ISP to me.
