R7 Dreamcast question

Post by Doctor Fugue »

I recently bought a never-opened R7 Dreamcast. I have been playing games with it but I'm trying to keep the box and extras in mint condition.

There are 2 discs that it came with, one of them is the internet disc and the other is black and says R7 on the front. I want to keep it sealed, so can anybody tell me what the black disc is? Thanks!

* Released: September 6, 2001 (Japan)
* Includes: Black Dreamcast console with golden R7 logo, matching control pad, and hook ups
* Limited Quantity: yes, #?
* Price: 9,800 Yen ($75)
* Note: This version of the console was previously used as a network console in pachinko parlors in Japan. "R7" stands for "Regulation #7" (2nd provision, 1st section, number seven in the Japanese Penal Code), which regulates businesses that are deemed to affect public morals.

Originally the Black R7 Dreamcasts were Ltd Edition Japanese Dreamcasts that were used as prizes in pachinko parlors in Japan, and were previously only avaliable through pachinko parlors. The R7 relates to the ruling in Japanese law (regulation 7) of no legal gambling! Hence they are rare to find even in Japan

The black system is called "Dreamcast R7" and, when equipped with an exclusive piece of software, will give its users access to a so-called "R7" Pachinko information service."

So, R7 is the Pachinko network, apparently. so unless you move to Japan and own a pachinko parlor or know someone who does. that disc is useless and more a collectable. :D

I had read a lot about the console and it being a prize in pachinko parlours, but I could never find mention of the extra disc; thank you, kind sir.

And I will never sell it unless I am starving for food and dying in a ditch, so I might as well enjoy it!

They are rare, but not as rare as the Mazora...that thing looks awesome.
