Slim PS2 Online/Network capabilities?

Post by Mozgus »

So I have the Slim PS2. It's hooked up to my network. I used MGS3:S to configure it and it made a network file on the memory card. Unfortunately, MGS3:S's online made has been dead for ages. So...what exactly can I do with my PS2 online or on a network, aside from play the few games online that still have live servers? I mean, is there a web browser like Dreamcast got? What can I use it for these days? I don't own any online capable games, and I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you cant play backups online without some kind of DNAS patching or something.

So what can I do?

I've got the same problem. I don't know of a web browser either....

I do know of a hard drive adapter cable/mod that was made for the slim version PS2's. What this means is you can dump games to an attached PS2 harddrive over a network.

Not that you would. The harddrive has to sit externally, so it's just as easy to hook the harddrive up to the PC.

Other than that, I don't really know what you can do. Maybe run your own server for a PS2 LAN party?

Playstation2 online gaming still lives... it's just not as obvious as it once was.
