You can basically look at it that way, it's a Gamecube with some massive improvements.zxqdms wrote:The Wii is the redesigned GameCube. dun dun dun

If they Wii was any smaller (like that Discman), it would loose Gamecube functionality.Limewater wrote:Probably like this!Breetai wrote:How in the heck would you make a smaller Wii?ZeroAX wrote:And why isn't there an even smaller Wii?

Not to my understanding. Unlike GB/GBC support on the GBA, the Wii uses the same components for Wii and GC modes, but sets them to sort of a downgraded "compatibility mode" where it pretends not to have the added speed or peripherals of the Wii. I suppose they might need to remove the physical controller and memory card slots, but those could be added back with an external adapter.Breetai wrote:If they Wii was any smaller (like that Discman), it would loose Gamecube functionality.
However I don't think it's possible to make the Wii that small right now anyway, so it doesn't matter. Maybe in another 5 to 10 years, but then Nintendo won't be making the Wii anymore. It's a moot point.

The sentence I bolded is the reason why it won't go smaller.flamepanther wrote:Not to my understanding. Ha ha! You've got moving parts now!MrPopo wrote:Yeah, I'm not sure how much smaller the Wii can get, since it has to accomodate a bulky optical drive.
