Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I just watched the Twin Peaks-themed episode of Psych. It was genius, but then again, so are most Psych episodes. I've become an enormous fan of the show in recent weeks, but I'm starting to run out of episodes to watch.

If you have netflix the episodes are all up on instant view, the show airs very oddly, seasons are broken up by summer and winter, and seem very short, that is my only beef with USA programming, I don't like the mid-season breakAck wrote:I just watched the Twin Peaks-themed episode of Psych. Figured this would be a good place to let this off my chest, rather than starting another thread about it!CFFJR wrote:They've always done that.final fight cd wrote:i went to gamestop today, which was my first time in a LONG TIME. i was just browsing to see what cheap titles they had. i noticed all their "new" titles were opened? Warning: Bad Gamestop Experience Rant -
I went into one by me the other day to use a gift card. Found a used copy of Tales of Vesperia for like 26.99 so I figured it was an awesome buy! I take it up to the cashier and he just looks at me bug-eyed. "Where did you find that..," he asks me, half-stoned. I point to the used section of XBox games. "Oh....." is his reply as he searches the drawer for the game. after looking in the drawer for literally 5 seconds, he proceeds to tell me: "Dude, we don't have that game. Sorry. We sold it to some chick yesterday and since we couldn't find that case, we just sold it to her with a blank case. It was our last copy - sorry, man.." I was soo pissed!
Next day - same store, different clerk. I went there only because another store's clerk phoned ahead and told me they had their last copy of Ys: Oath of Felghana Limited Edition, and that they'd hold it for me.. "Sweet!", I figure! I get to the store and tell them I'm the guy there for the Ys game. The clerk smiles and pulls out the standard game, unsealed, with the sticker reading Ys: Oath of Felghana (Limited Edition) - $49.99. <the standard edition goes for 10 bucks cheaper, fyi.> I pitched a fit - "You're sticker says Limited Edition, but that's the standard version - there's no extras! Are you sure you're out of the limited edition??" I didn't care if I sounded like an uber-nerd, this was about good business, not some game's bonus content! Well, after 15 minutes (yeah, 15 freaking minutes!) of waiting for them to search around, they find the box with the extras in the back. "It was shoved up behind some discard boxes - here you go, dude."
Needless to say, I'm done with that store. That sad thing is, this is so typical of most Gamestop stores everywhere! Is it me, or does it seem like they only people that work there, (for the most part,) don't give a rats ass about what the customer wants, and just tries to make a sale..?

Indeed. Which is why as a consumer we need to be the more educated ones when it's time for shopping in brick & mortar. This is also a reason why I have primarily shopped online for the last 6 years.dsheinem wrote:minimum wage is no great motivator of customer serviceRurouni_Fencer wrote: Is it me, or does it seem like they only people that work there, (for the most part,) don't give a rats ass about what the customer wants, and just tries to make a sale..?
At least you got what you were looking for. Better that you got it than not.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:Next day - same store, different clerk. Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I had a pretty bad Gamestop experience about 13 months ago. It was about a week before Christmas, and I was browsing around the Gamestop's website, checking for any copies of Xenosaga 3 that may be available. Nothing on GS' site, but I noticed that they didn't even have an entry for the game. On a whim, I did a google search for "Gamestop Xenosaga III", and lo and behold, it showed up... on EB Games' website. So, I checked for any local copies, and was shocked to find one at a Gamestop only 30 minutes away! I called up the store to ask if it had its case and manual, and they said that it had both, but they refused to hold it for me in the meantime. So, I drove over as fast as I could, in the terrible Christmas traffic [any resident of Kalamazoo knows how bad Westnedge Avenue can get], and after fighting my way through the crowds at the mall the Gamestop was located in, I made it to the store. There was a line of 10 people. I waited my turn (im)patiently, and finally got to the front of the line, and asked for the game. After the scrawny little shit of a clerk glanced at the PS2 shelves, he went into the back room, emerging 10 minutes later to tell me that he couldn't sell it, because it was just traded in yesterday, and there is a 15-day waiting period on games that are traded in. I went fucking berserk. I almost was going to punch him in the face, but I decided not to. Conversely, I came back about 3 days later, and asked a different clerk to get the game, and he said the same thing, but this guy owed me a favor, so I was able to negotiate with him for the game. Long story short, Gamestop can be Heaven or Hell, depending on who you deal with, but unfortunately, it is rarely the former.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I go to gamestop quite often and I've never really had a bad experience. I live near two gamestops. One is really small (located In a mall) and the employees suck. The other one is quite large and the employees are very nice. The only thing that bugs me is those darn stickers. Anyway, I think we should had a thread for bad gamestop experiences. I enjoy reading them just to see how stupid the staff is.
