It wasn't necessarily done for a video game but Nintendo Power had some great prizes tied to video game in their magazine. Trips, meet and greets, swag, and limited consoles/handhelss were always neat.

I took part in a limited contest that they had for new Vectorman copies... I think they had some sort of game code and phone number once you beat the game and you had a chance to win like 60 grand. Never won ^^
