I love the earliest Disney stuff, up until about the early 1940s. Have you watched many of the things released in the "Disney Treasures" line of DVDs?

Also, I've never seen anything animated that parallels the pure emotional sweeps and captivating imagery that can be found in the "Night on Bald Mountain"/"Ave Maria" finale in Fantasia, Disney's greatest film.
While I was working towards my B.F.A. I met tons of animators and easily over half of them would completely agree with you, as do I. Also, since we're on the topic of Disney, the scene in Pinocchio where they run into Monstro the whale and he's animated using oil paintings is absolutely breathtaking.

I'm an OCD machine.
  • I've got comics from when I did everything my best friend did. (And again when older friends said they collected too; though it now includes manga/manhwa.)
  • A stagnating stamp and coin collection from my parents.
  • A growing collection of convention T-Shirts. (I love volunteering for the sake of getting stuff done, but I also have a stack of shirts I can't wear in public.)
  • Of course a game collection from my college years. (Bought more games than I could play; when I learned their increased value I just couldn't bring myself to open them.)
  • And from the game collection comes a VHS/DVD collection; again, back from the days when I was joined fansub groups to buying licensed stuff to support my favorite series... and never having the time to "watch" them all.
  • Art books. Because I could leech and mimic other artists so I bought a wide range of artists' portfolios... and never had the time to absorb any of them.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

I haven't watched many Disney shorts outside of the very well known ones and some Goofy (I like Goofy for some reason).

The Disney shorts I like are spliced among many DVDs so buying them is not a priority for me. While it's a good idea to have chronological DVDs I don't think I can justify the spending on a DVD for just a couple of shorts I like but not much. I have also heard mixed feelings about the condition of the shorts (DVNR, Censoship, bad prints, etc)
Also, I've never seen anything animated that parallels the pure emotional sweeps and captivating imagery that can be found in the "Night on Bald Mountain"/"Ave Maria" finale in Fantasia, Disney's greatest film.
I have to say, I haven't watched Fantasia whole since I was a kid and Youtube doesn't make the film justice. It's a very hit or miss fil when it comes to audiences tough.

SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOG!

Wops, wrong picture.

@Hobie-wan

I'm no expert but I think the only Terrytoons on DVD are the Mighty Mouse shorts.

Well, I've always been into CD's, and I would like to get into Vinyl and other forms of music. I also like DVD's and VHS's. (Not so much Blu-Rays and Laserdiscs, but I do find the ill-fated HD DVD's quite niche)

And as a small child, I used to collect those Hot Wheels and Matchbox. If I could find all my old cars again, I'd keep them in the packaging, but I don't play with my old cars anymore.

I have a pretty decent collection of board games, and also with trading cards/sports cards, however I've no idea how I would go about displaying them.

I would love to get into NHL Jersey collecting, bobblehead collecting, and NHL figure collecting because I absolutely love the NHL and everything about it. (Except for the Maple Leafs, sorry.)

Finally, I wouldn't mind getting into Wrestling figure collecting, just to relive my past as I used to love the WWE.
Collects promo gaming stuff, certain import games, hockey memorabilia, and other oddball things. (sig and avy under construction)
