I know this is not a Nintendo version but there was a Star Trek Starfleet Academy for the Sega 32x. When I was little I thought it was cool but have never picked it up here lately to try it again.
Is Star Trek 25th Anniversary worth a playthrough? It has been sitting on my shelf and been considering trying it out.

Which version?PixelPixii wrote: Is Star Trek 25th Anniversary worth a playthrough? It has been sitting on my shelf and been considering trying it out.
The NES one is really short, but decent.
The PC one is a completely different game. It's a lot longer, better, and more interesting, in my opinion.
Neither is a bad game, though both contain a couple of rather inscrutable puzzles.
Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii

Yes, 25th anniversary is a proper 2d adventure game and you'll like it if you like that kind of thing.

Remembered this one when thinking about Commodore 64 built in Basic Language. How about Super Star Trek, anyone play that ancient "Main Frame" game? Back in the day when a printout was the video screen. Great C64 game with an 80 column board or on the 128. Mentioned earlier, there is a 2600 version called Stellar Track.Octopod wrote:I am a huge Trek nerd but I really have not played a lot of Star Trek video games. Damn I didn't know my 2600 cart was a rare Sears only release!

Stellar Track is based off the old text Star Trek game that was popular on college mainframes in the early 70's.
Stellar Track was programmed by Atari but was only released under the Sear Tele-Games label as one of three exclusives. This was part of the deal Sears made with Atari when it agreed to start distributing their games under it's own label. While Stellar Track was vastly overshadowed by the flashier action games of the time, it remains one of the few true strategy games on the 2600. Stellar Track is a little slow paced, but worth a try.

Re: Star Trek video games
25th on GB is kind of ok. It's basically a shmup. Not a great one, but still it's better than Crystal Quest or Volley Fire...

Re: Star Trek video games
Trek comes in the Bsdgames package available on any linux distribution. IIRC it's part of the FreeBSD base install. Good game, very tactical. I wasn't aware of the 2600 interpretation.CRTGAMER wrote:Remembered this one when thinking about Commodore 64 built in Basic Language. I probably mentioned this before in this thread, I don't remember. But Star Raiders was intended as a cross between the tactical gameplay of Trek and the action gameplay of the Star Wars arcade. It succeeded very well IMO.

Try Star Trek: Invasion for the PS1!
It's very very good [think Colony Wars].
