Wow. Lord_Santa. Thank you very much for all that info!

I just received the system and it works great. I'm so excited to start getting peripherals and software for it. Right now, I sadly don't have much to do with it. Played around with some basic commands I knew from my TRS 80 days though!

Anyway, thanks again for all the help guys. I'm sure when I get more stuff I'll have more questions. Also, whose in favor of turning this into a C64 appreciation thread?

Have you done 'Hello World" yet? You aren't allowed to run any other software on your C64 until you've done that. :P

Oh, interesting. I will do this soon! I just need to get a better cable for my 64. Right now I am using an NES rf box because I don't have a switch box and the picture is awful.

Agree, push to get at least a composite cable or do that S-Video Mod. Or go nuts and get a 1701/1702 monitor with the matching rear connecting Chroma Luma cable.

If you really want to type in some programs, there are tons of BASIC programs. Not commercial quality but interesting to see how the program lines do their thing. I have every issue of Compute! Gazette magazine and spent many a night typing in the program listings. Gazette magazine also had some that were in machine language, ended up getting a wired Number Pad for all those data number lines.

Here's an easy one. Let me see in I remember this right.

1. PRINT"HELLO, WHAT IS YOUR NAME"
2. INPUT A$
3. PRINT" HELLO "A$;
4. GOTO 3
RUN

After entering your name, the screen continually scroll, greeting your name until you press the RUN STOP key. A lot of Commodore Basic commands can be typed shorthand. PRINT could be typed ?. The GOTO command can be typed out as G SHIFT O. The O will display as a graphic symbol off the keyboard. Brings another point, the SHIFT and COMMODORE keys allow you to add your simple graphics and color changes inside a program line. There are also POKE commands to change the background color.

Wait till you discover a couple classic Basic language oldies, ELIZA and SUPER STAR TREK.

Congrats! The older non lever flap door, not an issue unless the floppy write protect tape is too thick. The good news is the cardboard sleeve. Maybe a sign that the owner took good care of that drive.

I thought so too. It looks good and the starting bid was 99 cents which I notice that these don't sell for very cheap so I jumped on it. I also just won a copy of Dragon's Lair for C64 to test the drive with. I'm very excited :D

Nice, if they kept the head shipping protector (the fake cardboard floppy looking thing) then they likely took good care of it when it was in use.
