so the missing bottom, hopefully means that it's going to have a replaceable battery like the PSP?

The DS has a replaceable battery too - you just need to remove a screw and you're set. But not as removable as the PSP's.ZeroAX wrote:so the missing bottom, hopefully means that it's going to have a replaceable battery like the PSP?

Re: BREAKING NEWS!: Nintendo 3DS smuggled off a Chinese assembly
Seeing all those other DS systems reminded me that I should always wait until the 2nd, 3rd (or 4th!) version of a Nintendo handheld before buying. Their launch day hardware is always inferior to the later iterations, which usually come fairly quickly...

I think this way about ALL console hardware for the most part.dsheinem wrote:Seeing all those other DS systems reminded me that I should always wait until the 2nd, 3rd (or 4th!) version of a Nintendo handheld before buying. Its neat, but since I cant do 3d without a headache, it is a wait to play my little cousins before I commit.

I must say I like the color on this one much than than that god awful blue-green you always see. I think I'm going to wait for a revision as well, seeing the changes since the regular DS makes me think there is a quite a bit of room for improvement from the current design.

well you can turn the 3D effect off, so this seems irrelevantfastbilly1 wrote:Its neat, but since I cant do 3d without a headache, it is a wait to play my little cousins before I commit.

Unless the games are specifically made for 3d. Then you would be getting a bastardized version of the game by disabling 3d. It would be like playing Samba De Amigo with a controller. Sure you still get play the game, but its not the same.AppleQueso wrote:well you can turn the 3D effect off, so this seems irrelevant

Thats what I was just thinking. The playstation series received huge upgradesnoiseredux wrote:I think this way about ALL console hardware for the most part.dsheinem wrote:Seeing all those other DS systems reminded me that I should always wait until the 2nd, 3rd (or 4th!) version of a Nintendo handheld before buying. Re: BREAKING NEWS!: Nintendo 3DS smuggled off a Chinese assembly
The PS3 got progressively worse with each new hardware update, so there are exceptions. Even Nintendo has made newer, inferior versions of their hardware. The top loader NES lacked composite video that the original had, for example. The Japanese version was an improvement over the original Famicom though.
Chances are there will be a better version of the 3DS next year, followed by an even better version the following year, etc. Anytime you buy a Nintendo hand held system, your device is sure to become obsolete in 12 months or less, so I can use the same argument against someone who buy the 3DS Lite.
