Find it hard to believe that Infinite Space & 999 are rare

the prices are just ridiculous. I was lucky to find Infinite Space for 25 dollars and 999 for 35. 999 is very good btw.

And I've heard good things about 999 although I don't know about it being rare. It just freakin' came out a couple months ago in the U.S.
I might play it once I finally finish Last Window.

I just saw Infinite Space at a GameStop for 35 and it was "new"

999 is getting a reprint around the middle of january so it won't be rare for long.

Infinite Space just had a low print run and ended up not being popular enough for a second one. I might try to pick up a used copy of it at gamestop since they have it for $23.

I wouldn't even say they had a low print run but being an "obscure" game from a Japanese company instantly means +50% shark tax online.

Is Infinite Space any good?

I enjoyed it. It has a very steep learning curve and can frustrate people because no matter how powerful you get a battle can become one-sided against your favor by a lucky shot or tactful movement. The story is slow and nothing special but for a JRPG it remains surprisingly open at all times. It's a linear game but there's no shortage of some kind of sidequest popping up or random event you never knew existed. It's also long nad easy to pick up and play which are both pluses for a handheld game.

reprints are going to be very low. Amazon is only going to get 8 new copies in stock in 1-3 weeks. It's bound to become rare no matter what.

Got Infinite Space from Wallmart on Christmas sales for 10 dollars. You just need to search a bit harder as the one I went to are really trying to sell them off as bargain bin games.

I bought both on release date. Found Infinite Space a little obtuse so sold it. All the reviews that bemoan missing quest log are dead-on. Later deeply regretted the loss and searched - literally - 14 stores for a copy. Maybe that doesn't sound like much if you're in a major city but it was a day's worth of driving for me. OK, I did some other errands that day also to justify the gas. Ended up buying a sealed copy on eBay about $15 over MSRP. Glad to have it again but I have to admit I haven't started a new file yet.

999 piqued my interest after playing the demo online. That was the first time I'd seen "DS in a browser" before and the story seemed original. I wikipedia'd the developer and after reading they had been doing this genre for a while in Japan figured I was in for something good. Fear of spoilers kept me from reading any of the previews and the first weekend I had it I beat it twice- unusual for me as I have major game ADD. I'd say I consider it a permanent keeper but truth be told I'm not quite committed to clearing all the endings. They have repeated text speed-up but it's still a lot of button pressing. Great game, though. Completely captured me that first weekend which is a 1 in 100 feeling it seems.

Both being rare... well I just don't think the hardcore DS market is very large today. I lurk where most of said community congregates online and at each forum you can tell it's at most the same couple dozen championing these niche games. And I'd consider these to be hardcore DS games. (especially with 999 being 'M').
