Emulator capatabilty with a MAC
I'm trying to play ROMs I have burned to CD on my Macbook but since I'm not the too computer literate I'm having alot of difficulty with this. It reads the CD but when I click on the files nothing happens, do I need a program on my MAC? The ROMs play just fine on my PC and they run off of MAME. Any suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

If you're trying to use the same emulator on your MAC that you use on your PC, chances are they aren't compatible.
Try MacMAME. It works well for me on my MacBook, and has a nice and easy screen rotation option for TATE shmups (hence the avatar

MacMAME is indeed wonderful. But how do tate your laptop? Do you just put the whole computer on it's side or do you have an external display?EllertMichael wrote:If you're trying to use the same emulator on your MAC that you use on your PC, chances are they aren't compatible.

Re: Emulator capatabilty with a MAC
I'd recommend MAME OS X, the tate function doesn't really seem to work very well, but it's a current project, so it'll have the best compatibility. I hadn't realized that MacMAME does proper tate mode, I may have to look into that. It seems like MacMAME would probably be better if you only plan on playing shmups, but MAME OS X is the better idea overall. I'd say get both!

Anyone know of a good front end for MacMame OSX? PC Mame can list games all kinds of different ways most notably list by controller type. I would love this feature in Macmame OSX.

OK Then. That's what I tried doing in some of my other emulators when running some games (like Raiden 3 on PCSX2) and it went vertically the way so to flip it would be on the side of my USB ports :/EllertMichael wrote:I put the whole computer on its side.Betamax001 wrote:MacMAME is indeed wonderful.
