Between yesterday and today I just bought Alien Hominid and the original Lego Star Wars, both for the Gamecube.
My wife said Lego Star Wars II is her second favorite game of all time just under the original Super Mario Bros.
I wouldn't give it that high of a complement, but it was an excellent experience.
So anyway, I quickly had to purchase the original so we can keep going!

I just bought Pikmin 2 (never actually got it, always wanted to and never did), and Rez HD.
I forgot Rez HD was coming out and I read in another thread (and got a text from a buddy of mine) and remembered. My God I still love this game and it is 100 times better then the Dreamcast one... which I thought was hard to do. 5.1 sound, high resolution, actual wide screen support, now that is all just sick. There were some sounds in it I completely missed in the DC version (going back and playing it again I can hear them, but alas you have to listen closely to catch it...).
If you have 360, a great sound system and a good TV, I don't care if you already own the PS2 version and Dreamcast version. You NEED to get this. And when I say sound system, I mean shake the teeth out of your mouth sound system. I just played it loud enough for the next town over to hear it and it was a fucking blast! I need to hook my XBOX 360 up to my computer with the digital out and crack the damn audio off this... or someone else has to. This beats the damn import soundtrack!
Still short though, just downloaded it at like 11, already beat it, and went back and beat it on Dreamcast to catch the differences. The HD version seems to be a bit harder and have a few extra guys tossed in, also the 1st level end boss has 2 rings instead of one, AND the guys at the final boss... the little dummies flying around. In the dreamcast they never bother me always shooting the wrong direction, it appears the new version has better AI or something because they were just wrecking all over me... not that it really mattered. One downside to the game is it is easy as hell to beat. But to get those perfects across all areas (like 100% shot downs and the absurdly high scores) that is where the skill comes in.
Areas 4 and 5 are still the best audio wise as well. Hearing the guitars and booms through my sound system coming from all directions is fun as hell. Now all they need to do is re-release Panzer Dragoon 1, 2, and Orta in 1080p HD quality with surround sound to complete my Sega rail shooter bliss!

I have a post earlier on, but recently I got:
-Headhunter for DC
-Putt and Putter for SMS
-Prince of Persia for GG
And these are on their way from the UK:
-Crystal Warriors for GG
-Defenders of Oasis for GG
I finally found a copy of Brutal for 32X which would complete my 32X collection but it is missing the instruction book! I hate that!

Yeah Rez is awesome. I have the PS 2 version. I may have to get around to downloading the new version even though I don't have an HD tv. So few games have such a sweet psychadelic vibe. The game is like a rave or something.lordofduct wrote:I just bought Pikmin 2 (never actually got it, always wanted to and never did), and Rez HD.

Getting perfects is really what it's all about. I don't understand when people play these games with no intention of perfecting the levels, but that's just me. I obsessed over getting S ranks and 100% shot down ratios in Panzer Dragoon Orta. I feel that with many games, beating them is only half the experience. You'll never gain a real appreciation for how much though and effort designers really put into a game until you try and take on all it's challenges. Anyway, I think this was my favorite part of the game:
And back on topic, I should be getting a copy of Contra: Shattered Soldier soon, which may finally pull me away from The Red Star.

ah man, Contra: Shattered Soldier!
I'm not a big Contra fan at all... I know, blasphemy, but Shattered Soldier was freakin' run and gun bliss. My buddy and I bought that the day it came out and spent 2 days on it. Left with all perfect S scores... we could beat it 2 player & 1 player mode from beginning to end with out dieing once and killing every bad guy on screen. Man was that fun... I don't think I ever perfected a game that well like we did with Shattered Soldier.
Other games to recently enter my collection:
Guitar Hero 3
Rock Band
and that's about it. Haven't been buying much games lately.

I've been wanting to get a copy of Contra:Shattered Soldier for the longest time and it's just one of those things that I kept putting off for some reason. Every time I saw a video online I thought, "My god, that looks fun".
Now seemed like a good time to get it. The Red Star really has me in the mood for another adrenaline fest game where I can run around blasting people and blowing up insane bosses. Shattered Soldier seems a bit uncommon too, so that motivated me to get a copy.
Hopefully I'll have as much fun as you and your friend did.
