I like the difficulty, it makes you earn the skills

Na there's nothing hard about them I think they easy to play hard to master.
All you gotta do is keep playing and get good at them. If you recall that's how all games were back in the day you had to play them and develop skills before you could progress although the first few levels started easy the later levels got harder and harder and that's just how it was.

I remember when I first started playing Street Fighter 2 I had my arse handed to me on a plate by the very first character but the game really came into it's own in two player mode where I played against an equally shit player as me that's why I say easy to play and hard to master.

However with regards to the 360 I hate the dpad it's shit I personally don't understand how they could get it so wrong especially since the pad is a copy of the Dreamcast pad that had a an serviceable dpad in the first place

Who the hell uses a Microsoft pad for fighting games???

Even a cheap ($50) stick is infinitely better than a pad.

Honestly that's true. I own multiple fighters on the 360, but I don't want to play any of them, partly because of that horrendous controller...partly also because the machine's about to die, so I don't want to turn it on, but that's unimportant.

The point is, that controller is terrible. In fact it may be a large part of the problems people are having playing these games. The 360 pad is meant for the horde of first- and third-person shooters on the console, not for its fighting games.

The Madcatz Street Fighter IV fight pads are actually really nice. I use it for most XBLA games as well as some fighters if I'm not in the mood to bust out the TE stick. Works great for PC games too! :)

This!

As a side note, in case anybody was wondering, I got the new ("improved") Microsoft controller with the swiveling D-pad for Xmas.. To be honest, I'm not sold on it yet!
For fighters like Mortal Kombat where precise F,D,F,F movements are necessary, it's a godsend! But so far in my time with Street Fighter and KoF I can't see a noticeable improvement.. All I can say for sure is that the D-pad in either position doesn't feel as loose as before, but it still doesn't come close to the SFIV pads, or an Snes controller!

The X360 dpad sucks, I can't even use it for Pac-Man!

I have one for each system, blanka for xbox and akuma for ps3, they definitely get the job done when I dont want to hook up the te stick :)

nah I have a joystick, the titles that are rereleased from dreamcast for example are at least a notch tougher even on easy.

I compared Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and burned through the dreamcast version on normal without much difficulty. Horrendous time on easy with the xbox version.

Hell, I like using the pad. I'd rather have a DualShock, but I'll take it. I didn't grow up in arcades, in fact I've only played at a cabinet a handful of times so any attamepts to use a stick causes incredibly irritating wrist pains.

Regardless: XBLA fighters are stupidly broken (see SF2' and Fatal Fury Special) There is no reason why I should lose while being cheap with Vega/M. Bison on the easiest setting. Sorry, but it just doesn't make sense. Would I get good practice at the difficulty? No. But I shouldn't get my butt kicked as early as M. Bison/Balrog.

Am I the only person who has this kind of trouble with sticks though? Besides the extortionate prices. :/
