I heard about this a while ago... Let's be honest though. Staring at screens in poor lighting conditions at long periods of time for regular gaming hurts your eyes as well. I don't think 3D will have a much bigger impact. (My personal opinion btw)

edit: And the 3d intensity can be adjusted and/or completely turned off. Problem solved.

edit2: Now that I'm thinking about it... I'd like to see some virtual boy games available for download on the 3ds. Maybe remade in color so you won't go totally blind.

I don't think the 3DS will have the same outcome as the Virtual Boy at all. The technology for a portable 3D gaming system is here now, where as it wasn't in 1995. Even if you don't care about 3D, legal portable Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64, should be great fun. And given the huge success the original DS was, and how well the Wii is doing, it's a no brainer that this will sell massive quantities.

What killed the Virtual Boy wasn't the harm it brought to childrens eyes alone. It was also the games selection, red headache inducing screen, lackluster graphics and was marketed as a portable but was anything but. The 3DS suffers from almost none of these problems at all. If Nintendo offers a parental lock feature on the 3D capabilities of the system, crisis averted.

I agree Virtual Boy had many issues unlike 3DS that killed it. I heard Nintendo will be putting in parental controls for 3D on 3DS.

Virtual Boy did not have Megaman Legends 3.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Or MGS Snake eater. That's the one that stands out for me.

This is your average back-covering legalese, like the epoliepsy warning. Or the "you must stop playing after an hour" warnings.

Also most people I have heard talking about the Virtual Boy causing headaches have never played on one nor have any kind of knowledge about it other than reading in from someone else.
