Just got a 4 slot Neo Geo MVS and have been unplugging it every time I get done playing so I don't have to worry about power surges. Do I need a surge protector? Or am I just being overly cautious with the new addition to the video game library
thanks guys
Do arcade machines need a surge protector?
Re: Do arcade machines need a surge protector?
I'd put a surge protector on anything that uses electricity... but that's me.

No they don't need them, they power up and work just fine without them! ha! </too literal>
I second gennss' comment, if you plug your TV and home stereo into a surge protector, why not a "combo" system? =)

Considering the investment, YES. Just be sure to get one that will support the amp draw.Cov238 wrote:Just got a 4 slot Neo Geo MVS and have been unplugging it every time I get done playing so I don't have to worry about power surges. I would think it a must considering how much the units cost.

And as a reminder to people, if a surge protector doesn't have an indicator that shows when the protection MOV is worn out and it is more than a few years old, it should be relegated to use on non essential items like lamps and power tools and replaced.
