Got kinect
Re: Got kinect
You could say you got Kinected
Re: Got kinect
It's all about what the market wants, after a while, the same game over and over gets tiring. The masses ultimately choose what they want to play, and right now shooters are the most profitable because people enjoy them. It's been around since 92', but really picked up as the leader in 2001, because of Halo.
My prediction is that games like Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, God Of War, etcetera are going to be popular, 3rd person adventure games that are cinematic (hell, even call of duty is very cinematic).
Kinect's pretty cool, the stuff they figured out to do with hacks has really shown the potential of it, hopefully it gets used in conjunction with a controller for stuff like leaning in a shooter or turning your head in a driving game.

And like platformers and fighters of their relative generations, FPS titles bore the shit out of me (and have for 5 years now). I *crave* something unique right now.Manofiorn wrote:Fps' are just the popular game right now, I don't know what It'll be in 5 years, but It's what everybody plays.
It's like fighters of the 90s and Platformers of the 80s.
As for Kinect/Move/WiiMote/etc, I can only see this sort of thing getting more popular. Big game companies are in it for the money, and if the money is with the mass market population, then that's where the mass market companies will go. It's economics 101.
Indie devs will always be around, and IMHO that's where the fun stuff is. Almost my entire purchase list for 2010 was either retro or indie, and 2011 is looking to be very much the same.

1) "Turning your head" doesn't work when you need to look at a screen
2) The interaction with games that require fast reflexes/action won't happen until they can reduce the lag (which at the moment is atrocious, and makes Kinect as a whole only good for games with predictable paths).
Re: Got kinect
I like it, my setup is a little too close to it, but I think I can work around that.
Sonic free riders has some seriously mixed reviews. Anyone actually try it?
Anything other than kinect sports worth buying?

Do everything you can to avoid Sonic Free Riders; it is broken in the most basic sense of the word.gennss wrote:I like it, my setup is a little too close to it, but I think I can work around that.

Like any Console launch, you are going to have to wait. Right now Dance Central, Kinectimals, and Kinect sports are the only Stand out titles.
