Because tar sticks to stuff and makes it look nasty and also causes more dust to stick making it worse as well.Balasubbie wrote:Congrats, sweet post Xmas haul. Am I to take it that you've indeed picked up the left overs of someone who's just died? If not, why is it a lesson as to never smoke?

Ordered a few things off Amazon w/ a gift card... got the first item: Resident Evil 4 on the Wii. I paid something like 5 bucks for it and it's in gorgeous shape, "like new" one might say. Whoo hoo. I haven't gotten my fingers all dirty w/ the RE 4 yet, gotta say, I'm pretty stoked.

Maybe you have habits that are different from other smokers but I've seen PC cases that were yellow and sticky from tar and bought a used CD that took years for the stale smoke smell to air out of the book.elmagicochrisg wrote: Meh, I always found "comes from a pet and smoke free home" an overrated statement. I smoke, yet my stuff doesn't smell like tar, nor does it look like shit. As for discoloured consoles, that has nothing to do with smoking or pets...

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
My lord, fair play. If I find out my many local Gamestops practiced such things with their GBA and GCN games, I will stand outside each of them and throw the hissiest of hissy fits imaginable. What's worse is, I actually know folk who work for Gamestop, it wouldn't have been to much a stretch. Ugh, anyways, kudos.soul_hacker wrote:My friend works at gamestop and her store finally got rid of all of their gameboy and gameboy color games. She gave me a bunch of games.

Re: Video Game "Finds of the Day"
Been busy lately.
The other day I picked up all this for $20 at a pawn shop:

In case you cannot read them: Suikoden (ps1), Bomberman (GB), Quest 64 (n64), Final Fantasy 7,8, & 9.
While I did have all the FF's in my sale thread I decided to keep FF VII because I needed a black label copy and I got a good trade-in value for FF 8 and 9 at a store (plus FF 8 and 9 were in rough shape and I don't think that they were good enough to be sold on this site).
Here is what I picked up at a comic book store today for $3.40:

games: Haunted House, Space Invaders, and Raiders of the Lost Ark (all for atari 2600)---and a Super Game Boy (snes) and Altered Beast (sms).
...then I went to a retro game store and traded in good ol' FF 8 & 9... Got some trade credit and picked up this:

games: Carrier (dc), Sonic Spinball (gen/megadrive), Body Harvest (n64), and a PS1 controller without the analog sticks. Been wanting one of those controllers for a while (I really cannot stand those Sony analog sticks...
).
