You could still get screwed by Paypal. If I bought something for say $500, then that person withdraws the money from Paypal and closes the CC or bank account tied to the Paypal account, I'm screwed.

Another 'real world' example would be people writing bad checks. I found out much later that a friend's mom was a habitual bad check writer. Turns out this is the reason they moved so much. The SNES that he gave me one Christmas it turns out was paid for with a hot check even. By the time I knew it was 7 or 8 years later. It wasn't a big city where we lived so you'd think that she'd have been caught for stealing all that money from places, but as far as I knew before I lost touch she never did.

Difficult? I decided not to agree to your terms without there being any irreparable damage of any kind. The refund came barely eight hours later with an explanation in both PayPal and a personal email. You mentioned your eBay feedback, but my feedback (104 - 100%) wasn't taken into consideration.

I slept on it, and I couldn't get the feeling to shake. It's general principle. I don't send merchandise to someone I don't know without a payment. I really tried to ignore that this one time, but I couldn't.

If you suffered some sort of measurable loss of money or goods, the feedback would make sense. Fortunately, you didn't. I wouldn't want anyone to.

I ask that the mark be removed.

I love edrama as much as the next guy but why don't we either start a new thread for this or leave it to the people involved to PM one another. These feedback totals are hard enough to accurately count up without multiple pages of unrelated discussion.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I withdraw shenanigans... this is a lot of noise tho, hope everyone can be gentlemen about it. And damn, Crisis, you sir, have a way with words... makes me want to beef up my vocabulary. Anyhow, if everyone has what is rightfully theirs then this sounds buried to me.

I revised that reply to keep it above the belt. The initial submission was a hot-headed one, so I caught myself and fixed it.

I did get a positive feedback in the midst of all this, though. :)

That's what it comes down to. I feel that a negative mark is warranted due to the fact that the deal was finalized, money was sent, and then you backed out. "Measurable loss" shouldn't be the only qualifier for a negative mark.

Feedback is for "transactions." As I said before, feedback should account for the results of material items (money, games, etc.) being sent/received. In this case I did send money. The fact that it was returned doesn't mean that no transaction occurred. My -1 rates the transaction.

If I get refunded by a store after paying a percentage to guarantee a preorder and then they refund me because they have decided to change the terms under which it could be ordered and now require a full down payment, I would have a negative impression of that store.

Perhaps a good compromise will be to let this conversation stand as stated and not have the mark be added to your total...

The level of abstraction you use to justify your stance is surprising. Nonetheless, I appreciate the point being removed.

It is just an example of a "real world" scenario, which others had also been providing. Nothing more. The point I was trying to make still stands, even if the negative mark is not going to count against your total.
