NES/SNES/Etc PC Controller Ports?

Post by optmusprimenumber »

Maybe it's impractical, but I was just thinking how cool it would be to have SNES or NES or both (or whatever system really) controller ports on a computer (rather than using USB adapters). I'm guessing it would just be a matter of internalizing a USB adapter and mounting the controller jacks in an empty drive bay cover. Anyone ever do this?

An interesting concept, agree not practical. The USB port is hot swappable with most USB devices. However, plugging a NES controller into an already plugged in internal mounted USB adaptor probably won't work. You would have to reboot the computer.

That guy who did the NesPC/NintendoPC casemod had a NES controller controlling the mouse.
SkunX might be up to the drivebay mod challenge, but it wouldn't be cheap.

You can wire those controllers to a serial port. People used to do it before usb was so common.

Alternatively you could just mount a usb adapter internally
