as far as i know, the NES was a warm grey, and the SNES was a cool grey. neither were 100% monochrome.

I have no idea what this thread is about. My NES parts look the same color as promo pix. Most NES pieces I come across are the same. It looks the same as I remember it from the 80s. The pics don't lie.

I think the main thing is that styles have changed, and the type of grey they would use on a toy from the 80s is a different than what you'd expect from a console today. You might think its yellowing.. but nope, its 80s taste in product color. :P

The only console to have a real yellowing problem is SNES (especially US SNES). But some escape this fate.. (mine!) It depends on the factory it was made in, I suppose.

Mine did too, but I think it has more to do with when you got one.

Up until my last NES died a horrible, painful death I'm pretty sure it was a nice shade of gray. I'm going to assume the yellowing has to do with UV rays cause up until it's death we kept it in a light free cabinet when it wasn't in use. My aunt has one too that she keeps in one of those old, blue Nintendo bags and as far as I can remember (its been a couple of years since I've seen it) it was the same shade of gray as the one we had.
