Unwieldy Game Libraries

Post by gennss »

No mater how much I slim down my library, i still have a proverbial ton of games I've yet to get to, and games I "MUST BUY" that keep making it bigger!

How do you control it?

stay off the internet

Dont follow gaming news and set goals for yourself before you buy another game. For example, you could say I must complete 3 games before I purchase one new game. If you follow that, your backlog will clear up eventually.

Good luck with that!

i just enjoy buying and selling games, i think. i have my collection and the games that i really love, and then i feel like i'm constantly just buying stuff and selling it, buying and selling. i think i like that aspect more than just hoarding. maybe i should open a game store.

I have kinda the same logic. The thing is, I can't force myself to play a game. I have to be in the mood, and I never know what I'm gonna be in the mood for. I can't just say, "Hey, I'll play this RPG that's been sitting on my shelf for years." I gotta be in the mood for it. So one day I just said fuck it, I'll play whatever I feel like it when I want to. I have a ton of games I own and haven't played yet, and a lot of games I want to pick up. But, whatever happens, happens.

(And aaron, as a current/former comic-collector, I do collect 'em to read 'em... but pick up a limited or pristine edition for storage purposes. Don't game publishers do the same thing now?)

I have my games really organized, doesn't really feel like a problem since it's so tidy.
