Probably the most perfect plot related ending to a beautiful love affair.
Tron Legacy wasn't amazing. The original was, but the sequel is very flashy paint over an obviously poorly performed and poorly written picture.

Jeff Bridges single-handedly saved the entire movie from the shitter with his performance, but that still doesn't make it a memorable movie as a whole. It broke no new ground in comparison to the innovative and unique original and for anyone that's actually used a real computer in their lives it's a paltry joke that falls flat after a short burst of wind.

Remember, how fancy and pretty a movie looks today can never save it from being an unmemorable and boring experience in the long run unless the writing and acting is there to back the whole experience up.

^ hey mod-man, if the guy liked it (as did i) then he liked it, theres no way you could change his mind about it too. i mean it's cool and all if you didn't like it, as everyone should have an opinion on something. i love tron and everything...but by no means was the original a great movie. it's a cult classic. the only reason we have such a love for it is because when we were young and saw the movie, it captured our imaginations about what a video game would look like in real life. and if i can remember right, the movie wasn't well received by everyone in the past too(something about no one understanding it or something cause of the computer lingo). and i would also like to point out that one of the main draws of the old tron was it being flashy. tron was partly popular cause it implemented technology never used before in a movie. this new tron did the same with jeff's head. but anyways, you give someone a copy of the old tron today and many of them will simply fall asleep to it. it's true they will understand the lingo these days, but that doesn't save it from being rather boring to some people. it's true there was no new technology in it really, but the plot points out that this is a different server that is not connected to the internet, and in fact wasn't really worked on since flynn got stuck in there, which is around the time of the pager (sorry can't remember the time period that they gave us). what do you expect for us to see? advertisements from google and amazon? personally i don't think fans would like to see that one. well that's what i think anyways.

my two bits on the movie: personally the newer tron was not boring to me at all, and while im no critic when it comes to movies, i was deeply satisfied with the plot and outcome of the movie. sure the actors for the programs really didn't act too much I had no issue with the acting at all, although jeff bridges did steal the show (i mean this in the best possible way cause bridges is one hell of an actor).

Dude, the original Tron even won an Oscar:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tron_%28film%29

It was recieved positively by critics and looks impressive even by today's standards because the inside of a computer is supposed to be blips and pixels in most people's heads. If you make too much style over substance it becomes flat.

Not to mention the offline server in the movie where it all takes place is supposed to have been created and then abandoned in 1989, so even the continuity was screwy because there's no way a 1989 anything can make graphics that look like that.

point taken on all accounts. but i still felt the movie had a lot going for it in terms of story. eh it doesn't matter, im not really one for arguing since it gives me a headach. :|

Sixth Sense: Already knew the twist (just like all of humanity), but it was still an enjoyable movie. Oh how far Shymalan has fallen.

Yojimbo: Akira Kurosawa's movies are always a joy to watch.

Yes, we are all right, especially Weasels and I (kidding)
I am an adoring fan of Tron and I have always been ever since I saw the first film.
It is true that the new film was flashy and that's the reason why many people went to go see it. People (film-makers) need to make money and the only way people would have gone to see this film is if they were convinced by:
1) A flashy action thriller.
2) A finish to a cult classic, much like how people watch Shock treatment after Rocky Horror.
or 3) A score composed by the most awesome MP3 files I've ever seen.
As for Weasels and I, we went as fans and left feeling whole.
My gripes: Yeah, the continuity was a bit screwy. Also, the programs seemed less like programs but more like real people. Clu started acting in role toward the end but that's about it.
However, as I said before I felt whole after seeing this beauty. I must admit every time I would watch the first Tron I would, for some weird reason, get the feeling of "and then what?". Legacy built up all the loose ends I needed and tied them off adequately.
In the end I suppose you can be on one side of the fence or the other on this one, and Mod Man, you and I have some awesome blue glowing chain link separating us.

Why did Kevin Flynn blare Journey so loud in his arcade? Was he trying to hear it from the grid?

I can personally confirm this statement from experience. I never saw TRON as a child, but attempted to watch it sometime within the last decade. I fell asleep.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: This seems to be a very divisive movie. I fall in the "liked it" camp. As video-game-inspired films go, though, Crank is still way out in the lead.

Easy A: My wife and I laughed quite a bit. If you think you can tolerate watching another comedy film about high-schoolers, this one is definitely worth checking out. Emma Stone plays a girl who develops a somewhat-unearned reputation as a slut, while actually being a virgin. It's supposed to have been partially inspired by The Scarlet Letter, but it's definitely not a modern retelling, as the similarities are largely superficial. That's OK, though, because it's still hilarious. I found it to be funnier than:

The Other Guys: This one had some laugh-out-loud scenes, and I'd say it was definitely funnier than a lot of the similar comedies I've seen lately (by similar, I mean rather silly with ridiculous characters, but less silly than a Naked Gun film). I don't really think that highly of Michael Keaton, but I usually enjoy seeing him in movies. I was glad to see him here.

Jonah Hex: Alright. I don't have a lot of knowledge of the source material, but I think this one was judged a little harshly by critics. It's not great by any means, but it's generally fun to watch.
