It's a competent JRPG. The combat is fun and it has the most sci-fi stuff of any Star Ocean yet.

The market is still over saturated. it's also quite stale.
Look at Square Enix profits this year, they are down 90%. You know why? because they thought people would gobble up the rubbish they called Final Fantasy 13 and 14.

Look at the PSP. It's overloaded with jRPG's. There are so many Disgaea clones out there it's silly. Character designs are unoriginal garbage.

There are a few gems in there, but good luck sorting it out from the crap. Your best bet to play catch up with some of the greats last gen.

Does nobody see the irony in this? There are actually a ton of JRPGs. Game Informer either does not review them or they give them mediocre scores ( I am a subscriber, so I know).

If they are so concerned, perhaps they should get their heads out of their ass and start playing/reviewing them.

The problem is that the costs are too high and they try to recover them by having broad appeal, making all RPG look similar.

Being unoriginal doesn't make the design garbage, they are different things.

That doesn't mean that they can't be both garbage and unoriginal.
