Re: Overkilling a netbook.
I thought it was called "overclocking", not "overkilling". I might be wrong though.

I believe he meant using or pushing the netbook too hard, beyond anything processor-intense that it was designed to handle - like (*insert current reference* - all I got is Doom on a 386YoshiEgg25 wrote:I thought it was called "overclocking", not "overkilling". I might be wrong though.

Doom 3 on a Voodoo 2, that's a bit newer.D.D.D. wrote: I believe he meant using or pushing the netbook too hard, beyond anything processor-intense that it was designed to handle - like (*insert current reference* - all I got is Doom on a 386). Over-clocking is to speed up the clock cycle/MHz/GHz over it's stock rate.

Is this an official Microsoft version?Anapan wrote:Look for XP: Performance Edition. Updated with all the SP3 enhancements that are worthwhile and everything extraneous was surgically removed.

Re: Overkilling a netbook.
Nope. This presents a few problems. One is that you have to crack it, which is getting to be less of a problem the older XP gets. I'm talking morally, and future updates detecting/disabling the crack. Another problem is the risk of cracked software, especially an operating system. Some a-hole could have put malicious software in the OS and re-uploaded it. Or maybe they just put a back door, leaving your OS wide open to hackers.

Thanks! I haven't done real gaming on a PC in quite some time if you couldn't tell.Hobie-wan wrote:Doom 3 on a Voodoo 2, that's a bit newer.D.D.D. wrote: I believe he meant using or pushing the netbook too hard, beyond anything processor-intense that it was designed to handle - like (*insert current reference* - all I got is Doom on a 386).
