glitches in Samsho4 on Saturn

Post by metaleggman »

So I just got four games my sister's friend got me in Japan and one of them happens to be samsho 4. Everything seems to load right on my Saturn until I get into a battle and things can get kind of weird. Large blocks in the character sprites, what I assume to be the individual pieces that are the max sprite size for the system, end up becoming corrupted in some manner. It looks an awful lot like the garbly nes sprite tiles look like when you open up a nes game in tile layer pro, just bigger. It seems kind of weird as metal slug worked when I tried it and that game, just like samsho 4, works with my 1mb ram expansion pack (the action replay 4M). Also, when I tried out Marvel Super Heroes vs Capcom, one of the other games I got :D, which uses the 4mb expansion pack, it works as well. Anyone have an idea as to what's going wrong? Could it be the game? The Action Replay? The game is still fun to play, so this isn't life or death, but any insight on the situation would be nice. :) Don't hesitate to ask for additional information. Thanks in advance!

Hvae you checked the CD for minor hairline scratches? It might need a polish.

Well, I just played the game in SSF without any glitches, so I'm more inclined to think it was merely a malfunction somewhere along the line. I would think the scratches would affect it here as well, but it is important to note my computer's optical drive is most likely quite a ways more powerful and robust against scratches than my Saturn's optical drive is. So, I should still keep that in mind...thanks guys.
