I don't think I can afford a 100$ mouse now. It's kind of a shame because I have a very good metallic mousemat. I'm looking for something more accesible.
I know if a wireless mouse. Will the batteries ran out if it's used non-stop for 18 hours? Not that I plan to game so much, by my computer is also used be my family so it isn't farfetched.
On the other hand, I HATE the mouse cable because it pulls the mouse out from the movement I want to, forcing me to compensate for it.
I don't know if it matters, but I have a very twitchy playstyle and use high sens for both playing and just browsing the net.

Know what you mean about the cord, always being pulled by hanging off the back of the desk. I have the cord held in check by the desk lamp so the slack stays at the desk.
While the death adder mouse is good i found it a bit to pricey considering it only lasted for about 2 years by then it started to get unresponsive mouse clicks.
And something marketed as a gaming mouse should be able to take way more punishment. But on the positive side it was a good mouse while it lasted.

I've been using this MX 518 for years and other than the wear on the logitech badge it still looks and works great. Also sub $50 since it's an older model.

Rig something up with a clip on the back edge of the desk to hold the cord as CRT says. Maybe a binder clip or even jerry rig it with tape or something.

MX 518 can be cranked up pretty good. I use it at high sensitivity all the time too.
Yet another plug for a Microsoft Mouse. I am wrapping up a Spinner Mod and tried both an E-machines and Microsoft Ball Mouse. The Microsoft Mouse is more sensitive, moving the arrow across the screen twice as fast. My Microsoft sensor mouse is the same scenario, a lot quicker response then the Logitech sensor.
Once I get the Spinner Mod mounted I'll post an article, the SPINNER works!
Currently using a Rocketfish Bluetooth mouse, but I still use an ancient Microsoft Wired Ball mouse on my server computer and a miniature wired laser mouse on my laptop. I'll plug MS too.
The only problem I've ever had with a Microsoft mouse was one of their Bluetooth mice I bought was really slow to reconnect after going into sleep mode. If going wireless choose RF over bluetooth.
I had no idea these trackballs were so sought after by gamers, due to the fact they have 5 buttons (most modern trackballs have 3, apparently).
I don't know if this is particular to this one, or a common feature of either all optical trackballs, but curiously this one was not good for Marble Madness. I never was able to really go very fast with it, I think it won't recognize sustained rotation over a certain speed so the max speed I could get on the marble was insufficient for several jumps! It was good for the "fine-tuning" movements, but that isn't enough for some levels (and you won't save precious seconds on the levels you can complete).
