Darksiders - Biggest gameplay copier ever. Just not copied nearly as well.

Gran Turismo 5 - I've said enough about it on other threads

Samurai Shodown Sen - Man, what a disappoint for fans of the series...like me.

Castlevania LOS - Sparta May Cry, at least thats what I felt playing this.

Thats all I played this year and felt disappointed with.

2010 altogether was a disappointment. Aside from the very beginning of the year (Bayonetta, 3D Dot Game Heroes) and a few smaller titles (SPvTW, Costume Quest), I've been mostly depressed by the lack of anything this year. At least 2011 is looking up.

Red Dead Redemption, Final Fight: Double Impact, Bioshock II, Darksiders and Castlevania are a few I can think of that really disappointed me off the top of my head. There were many other popular games that were lackluster, but I didn't have any hope for them in the beginning. (Dante's Inferno, for example.)

Jonesy47 wrote: The gameplay was just too simplistic. Three attack buttons? Come on! Ive heard that Marvel vs Capcom 3 may be getting dumbed down in the same manner. Not to say i didnt ENJOY tatsunoko vs capcom, but this stuck out as a 2010 disappointment to me. Funny, because even though the controls are simplified, that game can actually be a bitch and a half to beat.
Real Bout Fatal Fury, Last Blade, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Asuka 120% and several, SEVERAL other games would like to have a word with you. Less attack buttons DOES NOT EQUAL dumbed down.

I don't remember people crying "dumbed down" with MvC2. Four attack buttons instead of six? CASUAL GAME! TEH SUCK! OMG THEY MAED THIS GAME FIR KIDS LOLRFLOAM!

I agree with the crappy Tatsunoko vs Capcom button layout. I think the three strike buttons are ok if you're playing as a Tatsunoko character, but if you're playing as Ryu or Chun Li you basically have to go and re-learn all their moves and combo all over again, which really bites.

I just wish Capcom could just find a button layout that works and stick with it! I mean, seriously... Marvel vs Capcom started with the classic street fighter six (which I preferred) then went down to 4 buttons on the sequel. Then Capcom vs SNK started with four and reverted back to the street fighter six on the sequel! And now they're down to three with this game - WTF? What are they going to do with the next game now.. bring it up to 8 buttons?

Sheesh.

Not getting the 3DS this year. Hopefully it still is coming out before March.

The five things I expected to be awesome and weren't:

Bayonetta
Scott Pilgrim
Metroid Other M
Bioshock 2*
Sin and Punishment 2*

*these are still good, just not as good as the first games in each series...

Also, we have discussed some of these ideas here: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 44&t=27071
