I still use Goozex

Post by noiseredux »

It's true.

So months ago I traded DDR Mario Mix on Goozex. I listed it as complete (complete according to Goozex is a little picture of a disc, box and manual).

The buyer received the game and left me negative feedback. His reason was that I had sent him "an unplayable game." This made no sense. My copy was minty! So I disputed this claim.

He then said it was unplayable because no dance mat was included. Now here's the thing guys, I always assumed you could purchase the game with or without the mat? The back of the box states that the game is COMPATIBLE with the DDR mat. It does not say the mat is required. In fact, the mat is not required as the manual shows controls for using the controller rather than the mat. So again, the game is in fact 'playable' as in, it can be played WITHOUT the mat. Nowhere on the box does it says "DDR Mat Included!" or anything like that.

So I bring all these points up to the Goozex Dispute Team. I'd say they're all valid points, and even if I'm wrong about the game never being sold separately, all those points seem to indicate that it was an honest misunderstanding on my part.

BTW this whole process takes months because Goozex waits about a month to respond to each thing you say.

Anway, Goozex finally asks the buyer to send them the DDR disc for inspection. Goozex pays for shipping, not the buyer.

Another month or so goes by and Goozex says that they agree with the Buyer, "the game is unplayable." They deduct the points from my account and say that the dispute is closed.

NO MENTION OF ME GETTING MY GAME BACK

Now searching through the forums on Goozex it seems that their policy is not to return the game to the seller. And if I do want it back, I'll have to contact them (so probably wait a month for a response) and that I'll have to pay for shipping!!!

WTF?! If you buy a defective product from a store and return it, the store gets the defective item back and you get your money back.

Here I am, having sent something I honestly thought was fine to send -- and now I'm out 400 points ($20) AND I'm out a game. This seems incredibly wrong and unbalanced to me. And no matter how this turns out, I am done with Goozex.

Perhaps some of you agree with the Dispute Team's decision (several Goozex forum members seemed to), but I thought I should point out the apparent and lengthy headaches at risk if you plan to trade there.

This should be stickied as a reminder to others. Reading this story, the buyer should return the product for a refund. Gamestop does sell Mario DDR without the pad.

yikes, I have never used their site so I am out of the loop on their policies

You were honest with the buyer which leads me to think negative feedback is not necessary. Usually a compromise can reached

WTF will Goozex do with the game if you don't pay them to ship it to you?

BTW the description page on Goozex of the game never mentioned a dance mat being included either, which I also pointed out to the Dispute Team's deaf ears.

Some people are just gaming morons. You can find these same people on Craigslist or at Gamestop. It's because of these people that when you sell a game like Guitar Hero you have to put a note somewhere saying "game only. guitar is not included" or "guitar sold seperately."

It's also because of people like these that a lot of companies were forced to put those little notes on advertisements and packages that state "picture shown is not product's actual size." But to us it's like.. "Duh, it's on a fucking billboard!" :D I'd love a 10ft Big Mac just as much as the next guy, but it just isn't so. You gotta read the fine print
"Welcome to the circus of values!"

Wow that's a big steaming crock of shit. :|

Do they exhibit the same incompetence if someone buys a last gen or older light gun game (complete with the gun) and it's 'unplayable' because that person has an LCD TV?

Wow, I can't believe this. You did nothing wrong, Goozex sided with the asshole buyer, and then to top it off, didn't even return your game. That's some fucking bullshit.

Thanks for sharing your story. I will stay away from Goozex as well, if that's how they run things. >_>

Read there ToS carefully. If they dont say that the game becomes property of them / the buyer as soon as it ships then wouldn't you have a case against them as they have technically stolen from you?

Im no lawyer though, so I could be way off base.
