Mind if I take a moment for a rant? You are of course welcome to ignore me. :)

I'm a regular user at GameFaqs, (so I suppose I open myself up to this) but I'm constantly surrounded by idiot "fans" of one game series or another that are really just a bunch of elitist pricks who deserve to dunked headfirst into a port a potty and lit on fire.

Here's a couple that are currently causing my blood pressure to rise.

First off, I'm a big Sonic fan. The recent games have kinda been going nowhere, but I loved Sonic Colors and think its a big step in the right direction for the series as a whole. The morons that are pissing me off? People who after 9 years are still masturbating to Sonic Adventure 2.

"Sonik Advenchah battel 2 is da best gaem evah!"

They talk about the game everywhere, relevant to the subject at hand or not. They get in your face about it too, laughing gleefully, screeching about Shadoo Da Heggehog in your topic about blue whales. Fuck you! Go home and bother someone else!

I'm also a big Elder Scrolls fan. The Morrowind nuts are as bad as the SA2 nuts. The first two games weren't good enough. The sequel is terrible, and the newly announced Skyrim "Bettah be like Moorowind or else I woont buy!" Fuck you! Call someone who cares!

What's worse, the Skyrim announcement has brought about a whole new group of idiots. People who are determined that the new game must be streamlined and simplified, to "get more fans". They (genuinely) want 32 person multiplayer, deathmatches, all this shit and more, in an RPG! And the defense for all this? "That's how the industry is now, so all games should go that way" Oh really? So the fact that 90% of "Mainstream" games out there cater to your every desire isn't enough, you want to take everything else too? We should all play games the same way you do? And they actually say that makes them "real fans" of a series they've never played! What the fuck is a "real fan"? They won't even discuss it, just plugging their ears and screaming la la la. Fuck you!! Go die in a fire!

You can't tell these people anything different. You can't point out a flaw. You can't argue a point. You can't even disagree. If you say even one thing against them, you're in for a mind numbing fight that will leave you questioning your sanity. You either blindly adhere to their position or risk them following you around, screaming in your ear about their favorite game ever that is the best game ever, has no flaws, and will never, ever be topped no matter what so there.

Fuck all these guys. They're not fans of anything and they wouldn't know a good game if it beat them mercilessly with a spiked club and left them bleeding to death on their mommy's doorstep.

Sorry guys, that was longer and a bit more vicious than I intended. I don't really fight with these people (I know better) but sometimes just being around something is enough to drive you crazy. What this really all boils down to is that I hate dealing with obnoxious children in all walks of life, (and I don't mean literal children, many, many adults are nothing but self righteous brats who are somewhat capable of hiding their venom day to day) who never grew out of the terrible twos "MINE" stage.

I see that sort of ridiculous, whiny, blame shifting crap at work all the time, and its so very draining.

People like this don't talk. They just scream and scream and expect people to deal with it.

Feels good to say all that. I needed somewhere to bitch about this knowing that no one was going to spit in my face afterward.

Sorry! No more negativity, I promise!

I've never been a huge Sonic fan, (I was a Nintendo head growing up as a kid,) but I do adore the original Sonic platformers and really wish the series fared better in the later years.
However, I agree with a lot of what you're upset about in that there are crazy Sonic elitists out there that get so gung-ho about one thing or another and debate it to the death. What's up with this fad?? IMHO, Sonic should be strictly confined to a 2D plane; that's IT! But if you like the 3D outings, then cool - go nuts! Why be so aggressive?
You're not the only one who 's noticed this trend..

That said - Is Sonic Colors really that good? I've been hearing some interesting reviews about it.

Ah, thanks for the support man. And you're right, the aggression just doesn't make any sense. Why are people so shrill and demanding about this stuff? And we're only talking about games! Can you imagine how irritating they must be about more important things?

Anyway, about Sonic Colors (and its worth noting I'm talking about the Wii version), I'll tell you that I've been a fan since day one with Sonic 1, so like you I adore the classics.

That in mind, I won't say that Sonic Colors is flawless; it isn't. However, I firmly believe that this is the best Sonic game of the past 10 years. Its simplified in terms of story and gameplay, no extraneous crap to bog it down, and most importantly, the game is just damn fun.

Also, good news for you, I'm happy to report that the majority of the game (I'd say about 75%) is on a 2d plane. Its not overly fast and the controls have been improved a lot since Unleashed, so it all plays very well. Best part about the 2d? They FINALLY opened up the levels. There are many stages with alternate routes now (not all), and exploration is rewarded with powerups, better scores, and faster times. (If you play it, Aquarium Park is fantastic for this.)

One other fun thing, the game has a "challenge" mode (its really not difficult) that has you play through every stage, beginning to end, with no interruptions. Its sort of a "classic" progression, and its very fun to play it that way.

If you can rent it, you should. Its definitely worth checking out. If you have any questions about it though, I'll be happy to answer.

Today I learned that Genesis controllers work in my atari 2600. I'm glad I don't have to use my joystick all the time now.

I haven't eaten a corn dog in at least 7 months.

That's ludicrous.

If God had sent an angel that could explain basic economics to George Bailey instead of a magical alcoholic, "It's a Wonderful Life" would have been a much shorter movie.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
