N64 Analog replacement help.

Post by sf1992 »

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster. I jsut purchased 2 new N64 analogs, the one's that resemble a GCN analog. They're very cool.

Unfortunately, I installed them correctly, but they don't work well. They lag slightly, and in certain games, they jsut won't function properly. Especially Smash Bros, cause you can't run or do a smash attack.

I've tried both of them on various controllers, and with variosu games. heck I even tried it with/without the expansion pack, memory cards, etc. And they jsut won't work.

Anyone experience this before? Or did I just get very unlucky with my 2 items?

I'm sure its the joysticks you bought. I tried the same thing, replacing three of my N64 controllers. I had the lag problem in Super Smash Bros, the oversensitivity problem in shooters, and pretty much everywhere else.

Right now, there is no good solution for the N64 joystick. Unless a third party starts manufacturing more controllers, or unless you use an emulator.

So you never got them to work? I read all these online reviews and say how great they are.

I bought them locally, I'm gonna go see if I can exchange them for 2 different ones... if thsoe don't work.. Then I'm not sure what I'm going to do...

Hmmm.. I read that site.. But I bought a thing that looks like this:

And I mean the thing works, but the control just feels... Off. Or slow. I read reviews that it's jsut "plug and play" So I don't think I need to do any maintanence on it. I'm jsut wondering if I got 2 faulty sticks, or if these are notorious for not working. Or I need to do somethign with them.

Thanks for the help though!

I've actually opened the original joystick box before, fiddled with the springs, and put it back together. It seems to work pretty well! Getting it back together was NOT easy, though.
