you can get thrown of by the Tom Clancy label.. but he is merely the storywriter and the gameplay of all his games (endwar, rainbow six, splinter cell) is nothing alike

Don't forget ghost recon! I hate endwar and rainbow six, splinter cell is good, so is ghost recon worth a try?

I can't stand Metal Gear but I love Splinter Cell. Agree with the comments about Xbox Chaos Theory being the highlight of the series. I recently completed Conviction and although it's a different direction I still thought it was awesome, minus that war section, just seemed out of place. The Tom Clancy name does bring with it the whole "I'm a serious tactical shooter" thing, but Splinter Cell is my favourite of his, alongside Rainbow Six, so much hate for Rainbow in here!! Rainbow Six 3 and Black Arrow on Xbox are some of my favourite FPS games. I've not played the earlier ones though.
