This has been a very interesting discussion. It occurs to me that this misunderstanding is what caused the failure of the CD-I. Very few of the titles on that system could be termed a "game". The makers of the CD-I saw the potential for the new medium, and tried to adapt other media to it. So you get interactive documentaries, hypertext encyclopedias, etc etc. They clearly had the idea that video games were for kids, and they wanted a more adult library. But in the end, it was the games that sold, even to adults.
I think the message is that yes, the interactive electronics medium encompasses more than video games, but that video games are by far the most important sub category of that medium.
