I'm tired of my crappy mouse that lacks one of it's four reduced friction points, making it incredibly annoying to use.
I was recommended that completely normal Microsoft mouse, because it's cheap and many Quake players use it. Ideas? Comments? Where to buy?

Pretty much any sensor mouse that is a comfortable size. Microsoft Mice do have a good reputation. If the Playstation 2, there is that three dollar EdgeFX at Gamestop.
For PC-Mac gaming, you could also add a Trakball along with the mouse plugged in at the same time. Mouse for FPS games and the Trakball for Retro Arcade games

If you're gaming I would recommend anything from Razer. Also Logitech is good too, but they also make quite the variety of low end products on top of their gaming lines, any of these may suit you fine depending on what you need it for. My personal recommendation for PC gaming is the Razer Death Adder, as I really like the features and ergonomics.

The R.A.T. 7 is apparently all the rage now. It has received stellar reviews in PC Gamer and IGN.

They are good. My favorite mouse that I own is a Microsoft Wireless 3000. They are responsive, comfortable, precise, and affordable.CRTGAMER wrote:Pretty much any sensor mouse that is a comfortable size. Microsoft Mice do have a good reputation.

I have this mouse at my office. It's not good for gaming, but hey, at least it has a floating rubber ducky inside of it.

I first read that as "precise and adorable."J T wrote:They are good. My favorite mouse that I own is a Microsoft Wireless 3000. They are responsive, comfortable, precise, and affordable.CRTGAMER wrote:Pretty much any sensor mouse that is a comfortable size. Microsoft Mice do have a good reputation.
Does anyone use the microsoft arc mouse? I am also in the market for a new mouse... and keyboard. I still have the same ones from over 10 years ago that I won in at a LAN MoH:AA competition.

You can buy teflon tape and replacement slider dots for mice. A good mouse pad can also help a lot. Good precludes anything with a fabric cover or was received free. But if your mouse is crappy otherwise, then yeah, time for a replacement.
I have an older Logitech mx518 which can still be found as a good price if you want to keep it under $50.

I tried out a Razer Death Adder at QuakeCon 2009 when I was playing the Global Agenda Beta and loved it so much that I bought one off NewEgg soon after I got back. Best damn mouse ever. Ever.
