Is science fiction dying?

I think "good" sci-fi we grew up with or had our parents have us watch has been shoved aside by more action oriented, CG based sci-fi that more often than not is looking to top the summer charts rather than make a lasting impression on the minds of the audience. We still get intellectually appealing sci-fi, its just not as common. I'm more worried about fantasy than sci-fi though.

I think Sci-fi is easier to draw in general audiences than fantasy. After the Hobbit is released, I don't think any good film adaptation of fantasy will be released for a while.

I don't think Science Fiction is dying, and there's no proof to say it is.
