Splinter Cell, Why did I overlook this game?

Post by Xionraserei1 »

I really have no idea why ive been overlooking this series as a whole? My first Tom Clancy game was Rainbow Six for PC (The original) and I hated it. Maybe that soured his name for me. Since then I never game two thoughts to his games. This was until I got an original xbox on ebay and it came with a splinter cell game (Chaos Theory). I decided to try it and I loved all the devices and action in it. I was really blown away by how different it was to other games. The co-op is really awesome as well, the only grip is that levels take forever to complete. I feel like buying all the splinter games now from the first. I should probably keep them on xbox-to xbox 360 right? I have a gamecube and ps2 but I think the xbox offers better graphics out of the 3 and the controller probably works better for it.

Did any one else overlook this series as well?

I disliked the earlier ones because of the stealth aspects, I loved Conviction as it was more of a strategy to Stealth as apposed to mandatory.

Chaos Theory is the series high point, I enjoyed Double Agent too the last one (while a good game) Just wasn't Splinter Cell to me, they even took out the splits jump!

Chaos Theory is the very definition of stealth games. Game still holds (both gameplay and graphically) up today. Tried the demo for Conviction, and didn't like it too much - might as well not call it Splinter Cell.

Metal Gear took my stealth gaming away from PS2 Splinter Cell. I played a little of Chaos Theory, thanks for the reminder. I remember loving the goggles that gave a neon view of the enemy as in the Predator movies. I'll have to give this another go with EdgeFX Controller.

Gotta love Gamestop, the Limited Edition 2 disc is the same sku!

I've heard that the gamecube/ps2/oXbox version of double agent had a diffferent storyline than the 360 version, and that Conviction follows the story from the 360 double agent. So I'd stick with xbox/360 for them. Actually I was the same way. Played rainbow six, hated it, then my friend told me to try out splinter cell. I plan to get the first 3 on oXbox, then Double agent and conviction on 360, if I ever get one that is...

you can get thrown of by the Tom Clancy label.. but he is merely the storywriter and the gameplay of all his games (endwar, rainbow six, splinter cell) is nothing alike

Don't forget ghost recon! I hate endwar and rainbow six, splinter cell is good, so is ghost recon worth a try?
