Donkey Kong Land 2 Question

Sorry to make a new thread for this but... I can't figure out how to save my game! I've searched everywhere! I don't know what combination of buttons or buttons and WITCHCRAFT your supposed to used to save your game! I'm getting pretty fed up!

If I remember correctly, you first have to collect K-O-N-G in a level to be able to save.. um.. let me try to figure it out for you.

I kept playing my first time through and assumed Wrinkly was like Cranky and kept playing, looking for a Dixie save point haha. Then I tried a bunch of button combo's on the map and decided to just TRY and see if it autosaved. Then the google searches for "Save game in Donkey Kong Land 2"
