If a bunch of you guys start playing this online regularly, I'll definitely get in on that. Otherwise I'll probably check it out whenever the wind blows me that way.

I'll likely play this a good bit. I loved the GoldenEye mod for the original Half-Life, and this plays a good bit like it. I'll have to get used to the 'aim mode', though.

Sorry to go off topic, but I had a question about Golden Eye. Isn't it based off a Movie? If it is, why do people like it so much? Yes, this is a serious question. I've never played Golden Eye. Please don't hurt me!

Because the N64 game proved once and for all that even the best console FPS controls can't hold a candle to the keyboard and mouse.

kiteJargon wrote:You can actually run Source mods having purchased any Source based game. So even if you purchase Half Life 2 Deathmatch (which is $5) you can play mods. But since HL2 is only $10 you should def pick it up if you haven't played it.
Thanks. I never really got into the HL2 mod scene, hence the rookie question. My friends and I still play HL1 mods alot, I was thinking about trying to get a dozen copies of HL2 or HL2DM on the steam sale so we can upgrade.

It's based on a James Bond movie, which simply provides a nice setting for an FPS. It's also a Rare instance of a movie-based game that works. It was also one of the first multiplayer console FPS games to work really well. It's not the best FPS ever, but it was the best on the N64 (though well rivaled by Turok series, Doom 64, & Perfect Dark). Many of us like it because we have fond memories of hanging out with a group of our buddies, 4 controllers hooked into the N64 and spending long hours shooting each other, tripping mines, and getting annoyed at whoever chose Oddjob as their character because he was short and hard to shoot.

Well, I've played a good bit of GoldenEye: Source, and yeah - I'll probably be playing it a good bit for quite a while. If you guys ever want to play, my Steam name is the same as my forum user name.
