Some Sega CD's have a rechargeable button cell like inside the Dreamcast. If his cell says rechargeable on it replacing it with anything other than the same rechargeable battery spells disaster for that machine.
Whoa, that's crazy! I had no idea that some Sega CD's had a rechargeable battery.
Heh, yeah it surprised me when I first saw it too. Every other system I see has either the rechargeable one or just a regular CR2032.

I'm guessing Sega decided on which to use based on market conditions back in the day.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

Try looking for a Pico II fuse. I ordered a few online back when my Sega CD had the same problem, and they worked perfectly :) Shouldn't bee too expensive either, I think I got around 6 for less than a fiver shipped....a few extras just in case you run across any others with the same problem

Like these? Is there a certain one I should get (none of them say 850mA)? If I got these, would I not need a fuse holder then?

I really need to learn more about this electronics stuff. D:

I need to replace my battery and its one of the rechargeable ones, which are proving difficult to find at a reasonable price. Does the chemistry of the battery matter if I happen to see one cheap or does it HAVE to be ml?

Thanks

I'm not aware of any rechargeable coin batteries that aren't ML####. I wouldn't chance it since the charging circuit could make an incorrect battery explode.

Ok thats cool. I bougt one last nite anyway, £8 delivered is the best that I could find. Oh well, still a lot cheaper than a RAM cart.
