Disappointed with Mario 25th Anniversary Collection
Super Mario All-Stars Wii ?
The reviewers are all bashing SMB All Stars on the wii as a cash in emulation of the SNES version. Looks like their right, any comments?

Its an anniversary collection for 30 dollars with a mario book, soundtrack, and 4 games. It would cost 21dollars alone on the virtual console to own all these games and for 9 dollars more you get goodies. Not bad IMO.gennss wrote:The reviewers are all bashing SMB All Stars on the wii as a cash in emulation of the SNES version. Looks like their right, any comments?

Re: Super Mario All-Stars Wii ?
At the very least they could've included super mario world.
In any case it should've had the mario games up until sunshine.
Just a rehash and nintendo printing money yet again.

Do you or have you done software development at a company for a living? If so, you would understand that it's not as simple as throwing a ROM in a directory unless you don't care about having a quality product.Flake wrote: Going to (politely) call BS on this. Most of the work is already done. All the manuals and art assets for Sonic and Knuckles were scanned in like a decade ago. Those assets were definitely already in the collections for PS2/GCN/oXbox. Hell, I'm pretty sure all that stuff was in Sonic Jam for the Saturn - and if a Saturn can emulate those games, shouldn't the PS3 / 360 crunch those roms without breaking a sweat?

You're better off than me - they told me it won't be until sometime after Dec 25.Ziggy587 wrote:I bought the preorder of it on Amazon when the price was like $35, now I see the price is $52. It also tells me 'Not yet shipped Delivery Estimate: December 20, 2010 - December 23'

I ordered it 10/28 with prime and it should be here on the 15th and shipped yesterday. The funny thing is that those who used the free shipping were shipped on Sat and some have it already.

I thought so too originally before purchasing it. It wasn't worth it because the CD soundtrack is really limited, the songs are only original tunes, and the art book is much more just a summary book of the games. I've seen better stuff on fan sites.SuperAnthony64 wrote:Its an anniversary collection for 30 dollars with a mario book, soundtrack, and 4 games. If I knew this was what it was when buying, I would have passed on it.

Something like this list of yours would be much more appropriate for a Mario Collection and more what I was hoping it to be.RadarScope1 wrote:I think I may have posted this somewhere here before, but my personal Mario collection would include:
Donkey Kong
Mario Bros.
SMB 1, 2, 3
Japanese Mario 2
SMAS versions of the four above
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Mario 64
That's just the core of it. Obviously a lot more could be included. Or maybe not, according to Nintendo....

O wow. I bought it and never opened it. I thought it would of had orchestrated music like the Super Smash Bros Melee Soundtrack from Nintendo power.D.D.D. wrote:I thought so too originally before purchasing it.
