It was less then 720p .. something like 600p. Still looks great at 1080p since the 360 scaler is so good.

All i know is it MGS4 looks like this i will cry :(

Hmm, I have never had a problem with running the PS3 on my 1080p TV. Not sure why it doesn't look up to snuff for you. Metal Gear Solid 4 looked more than fine to me, so I doubt you'll have to worry. I would tell you to download the demo, but you already said you don't want to update for fear of ruining your attempt to jailbreak...

I still wonder why some people are holding out for a jailbreak. Can you actually pirate PS3 games now? That seems like the only real reason to jailbreak it from where I'm sitting (just about anything else can easily be done with an original Xbox), but I heard that it still hasn't happened.

MSG4 still looks good after a couple of years on the PS3, you should try Uncharted series, Demon Souls, and 3D Dot Heroes to get a feel of the PS3 graphics capacity. My bro and I have used the PSN services and haven't encounter any problems so far.

Seriously?

Jailbreak has been possible for close to 4 months now, you can run games from an external hard drive without needing a disc in the drive since the jailbreak happened. Emulators and homebrew galore. You can download the ISO and transfer the game to your PS3 over the network. Easy. All you need is a little USB dongle, when you don't want to have an exploited PS3, just remove the dongle and the PS3 is back to normal.

Had a ps3, i found it lackluster and sold it, but I never thought it was ugly. I just didn't like the game selection. Maybe its just a bleh game. Get a blockbuster title and you'll see some beautiful stuff.

I see. I had friends of mine who were interested in doing this, so I figured they'd have done it by now if it were possible.

Not really anything that interested me, so I never researched it (if a game isn't worth paying for, it isn't worth playing either) - I just expected my penny-pinching friends to have done it by now if it was possible, seeing as they had no problems doing it with their 360s and Wiis.

gennss: If you found the game selection for the PS3 lacking, you were probably only looking at retail titles. Look at the games for download on PSN, that's where the good stuff is.

Shouldn't this thread be renamed to not really impressed with Rachet And Clank? Its kinda unfair to judge a console from one game. You may want to check your display setting on your PS3, theres a ton of configurations that will help your games look much better. I know theres onlline guiides for proper setups depending on your HD setup. Just Google away, thats what I did.
