Bah! I forgot there even was a videos board. I guess I'm just too much of an old fogey, but having so many separate compartmentalized forums is like having too many buttons on a controller to me.

Noadays, I think it's entirely possible to be a videogame composer without anything playing, knowing about or even caring about videogames.

I have no doubt that most composers simply submit their music to programmers who decide where to put it and as such, the composer is the most distanced major position there is.

Back in the day though, to compose chip music, composers had to like a swiss army knife and know programming as well as musical theory.

The 1Up interview with Contra composer Hidenori Maezawa comes to mind. I think there's a clear difference for how much he cares compared to most modern composers.

Awesome. Did you really crack your head or was that fake? The blood looked a little too red, but you did get a bandage. Also very sad the lack of knowledge. Even if someone said they didn't play X, there was absolutely no recognition in their eyes at what you were talking about. The chaperone girl was indeed cute though. :)

I think a lot of people writing music for games today probably went to music school and weren't into gaming. It's only been in the last 10 years that gaming music and movie music has sort of converged into one thing. Before that it had to be designed specifically for the system's technology.

I seem to remember you doing something with Nathan Fillion in the past? Did he not remember that or what was the deal there?

it's the hollywood syndrome, man. i mean, you've got gregson-williams scoring for the MGS series. everybody wants the big sweeping film score sound in their games. they want to make the next modern epic. hollywood is a trashy moneygrubber is all.

Not only was that video hilarious, but it also blew my mind. I can't believe how many people attending knew next to nothing about video games. It kind of bummed me out, but I guess it's typical of "big name" Hollywood award shows.

I have a feeling an indie games award show would be way more nerdy and probably not have hot babes.

I did a show with him as Gawl Senglelis at the UCB then after I talked to him as myself. So he probably didnt recognize me as Keith or remember that show at that moment.
