Post by terrybogard »

Hi Guys. I need help finding a power adapter that will work with this setup. It needs to be 12V atleast 3 Amps and center tip negative. Also it didnt come iwht any video cables so im guessing i will need to wire up some rca and a svideo plug. But dont know where to tap into the signals.... Can anyone help me with any of this information. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried goodwill for AC's? I've honestly never had anything but good luck at mine for AC Adapters and general RCA Audio/Video cables.

From what I read on the specs it should just have a standard S-Video port on it. Also, nice find on one of these they're damn hard to come by.

well the fm towns marty which i also own has standard svideo plugs. but since this was made for a car its very untraditional and next to impossible to find the video cables for this. i will need to make them from scratch and solder the connectors to the board. i jsut odnt know where to tap the signals from. heres a pic of the back. the top left large square connector is the one video and sound comes from as u can see its not traditional by any means.

and the power uses a 12Volt 3+Amp Center Negative plug which is hard to find since most are center positive. i may have to reverse the polarity to get it to work.

You're probably going to need to find and hack up a laptop brick in order to get 12 volts and 3 or more amps. Remember that the amps can be higher. I've rarely seen off the shelf generic bricks be more than 300 mA, much less anything like 3 A.

Double check with a voltmeter so you can be certain after hacking on the plug.

yea i guess.... i still haev no way to pinout the video. if you look at the pic i posted its the top left square input that outputs svideo and composite. so im looking for ground, stereo left and right, luma, chroma... how would i do that. im afraid theres a power line in there and ill short something if i touch it with a ground connection.
