Re: Anyone Have the new Transforming Dpad 360 Controller?
Found one for cheap on CL and let's just say I'm not impressed. The D-pad is still effed up, thought not quite as blatantly inaccurate as the prior models. Microsoft truly hasn't departed from the initial D-pad design (still uses the disc)...the D-pad has the option to be raised now - big deal.
Like I said, I got mine cheap. I wouldn't purchase with the assumption that this is a worthy upgrade that fixes the greatest problem to plague the 360 controller.

Re: Anyone Have the new Transforming Dpad 360 Controller?
In all honesty, the default D-pad on the 360 controller works just fine for me, and is my preferred method of control and menu cursor movement on almost everything aside from 3D games where I use the analog sticks. Well, that would be what I would claim, except for one glaring fault, it just plain sucks for fighting games. The 360 D-pad is acceptable for most uses, but just fails miserably when you attempt to play Street Fighter or any other fighting game with it.
I have a pair of those Street Fighter pads that, as one of you mentioned, look like Saturn controllers. The D-pads on those work like a dream, I have no problems whatsoever in pulling off Shoryuken movements, or any other Street Fighter moves. I also use the pads for Deathsmiles, as having six face buttons and an accurate D-pad make that game easier to play. I can confirm that the Street Fighter pads are worth every penny, if you can still find them.
I am curious about this Hori Pad now that someone has shown it to me. Didn't even know it existed. If anyone has one and can give some feedback on it, that would be awesome.

So it seems no one has used the new one yet. Anyone used a HORI pad? I saw them at game shop today and they look way better than the stock MS ones.

Re: Anyone Have the new Transforming Dpad 360 Controller?
I picked one up, I needed a 4th pad anyhow. It's $65 but it does come with batt+charge, save you $5 if you part it out. I did not have any rechargeable pads, been rocking the wired. The d-pad was not everything I wanted but better than the painful OG. The spin gimmick is just that IMO, the raised corners is not raised enough for me. I still end up playing Mushi on the analog.
Better than the regular, but if you do not need a extra re-charger and battery I could see it being a waste.

Oh god, the Hori pad on the 360 is a dream. Not only does it look gorgeous, but you can feel the quality in it. The dpad is perfect and the analogs are raised slightly more than the stock 360 controller (for precise controls in FPS's). The only drawback for some is the fact its cord'd. I have no problem with that, as you'll never have to worry about running out of juice, especially during a ranked SFIV match.D.D.D. wrote:So it seems no one has used the new one yet. Well damn. The HORI pad just sounds like something that MS should be packaging with the system instead.xan_racketBOY_fan wrote:Oh god, the Hori pad on the 360 is a dream. I guess it's gonna be one of these instead of the stock or new transforming ones.

I got one, I mostly needed a new controller. I love it though, I really like it better, I find myself hitting corners less.
